Nizar Qabbani (Arabic: نزار قبحاني) (born November 13, 1949 in Alexandria, Egypt) is the most popular and influential poet and performer of the Arabic literary and musical scene. Qabbani, at the age of twenty, wrote his first poem. It was rejected by many journals and newspapers. But he continued to write and publish his poems in periodicals and at poetry nights
His poetry has been translated into more than thirty languages. He also writes music that includes songs for children and social issues. He has sold more than three million records worldwide.
His works have been published in many countries including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Lebanon, the United Kingdom and Qatar.
