Nick Mansfield is a self-described "writer/dreamer/artist/adventurer." He was born and raised in Northern New York, where he lives with his wife and two kids. He is the author of THE QUICK AND THE DEAD, winner of the 2009 Associated Writing Programs (AWP) Nonfiction Prize. His work has appeared in The Best American Essays, The Best American Spiritual Writing, The Best American Mystery Stories, and elsewhere. He has taught creative writing at the University of Massachusetts Boston and at Harvard University, where he is an associate member of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study
He has also directed several plays for the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Mansfield grew up with a love for language and literature, which led to his studies at Harvard University (where he studied playwriting) and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (where he studied screenwriting).
