Moses Hadas was an American educator, writer, and guru of the first half of the 20th century. He was born on June 19, 1899 in New York City to Jacob and Sarah Hadas. He attended Brooklyn Friends School, where he was head of his class. He entered Columbia College in 1916, but soon left to pursue his passion for writing
He graduated from Columbia University in 1921 with a degree in sociology. At some point after graduation, he went to Palestine to observe the plight of Jewish refugees during World War I. He took a position as director of the World Zionist Organization's Bureau for Palestine Refugees, later becoming the Bureau's president.
