Michael Bedard was born in the mountains of western North Carolina. He attended NC School of Science and Mathematics from elementary through high school, graduating with a BS in Computer Engineering. While attending NC State University he earned a BS in Computer Science and a MS in Computer Engineering. He went on to obtain a PhD in Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
