May Sinclair was born in London, Ontario. She taught high school for over thirty years before turning to writing full time. Her first novel, The Little House, won the Governor-General's Award for fiction in 1971. She has since written over seventeen books, including five novels and three collections of short stories
She is an avid traveler and her favorite setting is the rain forest.
