Maulana Wahiduddin was born in 1928 in Karachi, Pakistan. He received his early education from various madrasahs in Karachi and then at Darul Uloom Deoband in India between 1950 and 1953. In 1954 he was called to serve as a teacher at Darul Uloom Deoband where he remained until 1963.

In 1959 he received his Masters degree in Islamic Studies from Aligarh Muslim University in Lucknow, India. He became a member of the Council of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and in 1972 he joined the All India Muslim Personal Law Board as its Vice-Chairman where he served until 1977.

Not all Muslims become involved in acts of violence. Yet all might be held culpable. THis is because that section of Muslim--in fact, the majority--who are not personally involved, neither disown those members of their community who are engaged in violence, nor even condemn them.
