Luc Montagnier, Nobel laureate in physiology or medicine, is the director of the Human Biology Laboratory at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. He is also a professor at the University of Paris VI. From 1983 to 1994, he was director of the CNR-Institut Curie and from 1994 to 1997 he was director of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on influenza in 1997.
