Lord Hailsham was a British Conservative politician, who served as the Member of Parliament for Evesham from 1951 to 1979, and as a Senator from 1979 to 1995. He also served as Lord Chancellor from October 1963 to October 1964. His paternal grandfather was the Liberal Prime Minister William Gladstone.
