L.F. Young was born in the summer of 1928 in Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Springfield High School. After serving in the U.S
Navy during World War II, he attended the University of Dayton and graduated with a degree in journalism. For many years, Young worked as a reporter for "The Dayton Daily News" and as editor of the "Dayton Daily News" High School Supplement. He began writing books at age 48, publishing his first book, "How To Succeed At Conferences," in 1973.
His first New York Times best seller was "The Art Of Selling Yourself." In 1996, Young was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Booksellers Association.
