Lauren Machta was born in Cleveland, Ohio to a mother who was a classically trained pianist and a father who was a jazz drummer. As the youngest of three children she grew up listening to her family's many live performances. From an early age she fell in love with music, which eventually manifested itself in her decision to go to college for music. Unfortunately, due to injury she was forced to end her piano studies
