Laura Anne Gilman is the author of the bestselling and critically acclaimed novels The House on Fortune Street and The Orphan Queen. She was born and raised in Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in English, and spent many years as a journalist, working as an editor for Minneapolis's City Pages and as a freelance writer for such publications as Star Tribune (Minneapolis), The Wall Street Journal, and New Woman (San Francisco).
