Kurt Cobain was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on February 20, 1967. He came to prominence in the Seattle music scene of the early 1990s with his band Nirvana. He is credited with having written some of the most iconic songs of the decade, including "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Heart-Shaped Box." Shortly after Nirvana's breakthrough success, Cobain committed suicide at his home in Seattle on April 5, 1994. After Cobain's death, his legacy continued to grow both through music and film (Cobain was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame).
