Kishore Chandra Deo (Bengali: কিশুর চন্দ্র দেব) (born on 14 April 1911 in Faridpur) was a notable Bengali journalist, politician and writer. He served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal (1951–54), head of the state unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) (1953–61), and Chief Minister of West Bengal again (1967–1971). He also served as the President of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee from 1951 to 1954, Deputy Prime Minister in the central government, Union Cabinet Minister for Home Affairs from 1962 to 1967, Union Cabinet Minister for Education from 1972 to 1975, Union Cabinet Minister for Education once again from 1977 to 1979, Union Cabinet Minister for Agriculture twice from 1980 to 1987 and 1991 to 1996, Union Cabinet Minister for Agriculture once again from 1996 to 1998 and Union Cabinet Minister for Agriculture three times from 1999 to 2003. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the Indian Parliament's upper house.
