John Gresham Machen (1881-1937) is considered one of the foremost evangelical theologians of the twentieth century. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and educated at the University of Glasgow. He held pastorates in Belfast (1912-1921) and London (1923-1935). He was professor of biblical criticism at Union Theological Seminary in New York City (1925-1927)
