Jock Sturges was a legendary American aviator who flew a record-setting number of American and British aircraft in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. His accomplishments include three solo long-distance flights around the world – a record that stood for forty years – and two transatlantic flights – a record that stood for fifty years. During World War II, he was instrumental in delivering supplies across the English Channel to England, flying U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAF) airplanes
He also formed Sturges Aviation Corporation, which became one of the world's largest aviation manufacturers. He served as President of the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) from 1946 to 1952.
