Jessica T. Colter was born in 1949 and raised in Oklahoma, a young adult who came to realize that the spirit of adventure was more life-altering than simply going to Nashville or Hollywood. She studied painting at Oklahoma State University and then made a life-changing decision that changed her life forever. In 1971, she packed her bags and moved to Switzerland, where she began to study at the Art Institute of Design in Lausanne, as well as took painting courses from renowned artist Hans Hartung
In 1973, she went to Paris where she studied with the French master Étienne Feray for a year. In 1974 Jessi married André Leibowitz after falling in love with him on a blind date. They had a daughter together and were married for more than twenty years.
Jessi has been a practicing artist since college and has exhibited her work throughout Europe and America, including New York City's Museum of Modern Art, the duPont Gallery, the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and many other venues. Her paintings have been purchased by many private collectors around the world.
