Jazar Kahr was born in 1976 in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is the author of the best-selling novel The Game of Life (written under the pseudonym "M.C. Zahir"). After growing up in Kabul, he went to university in Australia and completed his Master's degree in journalism at the University of Technology Sydney
He was a reporter for two years at The Australian newspaper before moving to London to write full-time. Jazar has won several writing awards including the prestigious PEN/Ackerley Prize for fiction and First Novel Award. He currently lives in London.
