Ingrid Bergman was born on 23rd June 1915 in Stockholm, Sweden to a distinguished family of actors. Her father, actor and director Erik Bergman, and her mother, actress disturbing (Camilla Horn) were two of Sweden's leading stars in the 1920s and '30s. Ingrid made her screen debut at age three in a film called The Blue Light, directed by her father. Ingrid's first major role came when she was eight years old when she was chosen to play a young peasant girl who becomes the temptation for her uncle in a movie directed by Victor Sjostrom called The Joyless Street. In 1930, at the age of nine, Ingrid played a role in another Victor Sjöström movie called The Serpent's Egg. Both of these movies were released in 1930.
In 1934 when she was eleven years old Ingrid played the lead role in Anna Christie which brought her international attention. In 1935 Ingrid shot to fame when she played Greta Garbo's role in Anna Karenina which became one of Ingrid's most famous parts. Because of this movie Ingrid became one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood.
She won her first Oscar for Best Actress at the age of seventeen in 1936 for this movie.
