Al-Iskandari was a disciple of the Hanbali jurist Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya. He was born in Córdoba, Spain in 1198. Al-Iskandari wrote his most celebrated work, Kitab al-Kafi (The Book of Knowledge), during his exile in Fez, Morocco.
