H.Q. Frost was born in Hamilton, Ontario and spent his first twenty years in the Toronto area. He attended the University of Western Ontario and graduated with a B.A. in English Literature and History
After graduation he worked as a freelance book editor for about four years, then moved to Montreal where he became a freelance writer and worked as a teacher for one year. H.Q. Frost's first novel, The Snow Queen, was published in 1967 and his second, The Snow Queen's Daughter, was published in 1969.
His other major novels include: The Snow Queen (1970), The Snow Queen: The Story Continues (1973), The Sign of the Three (1977), and The Sin Eater (1981).
