Hermann Bondi (1888-1949) was born in Breitenau, near Vienna, Austria. He worked for the last fifteen years of his life as a physician and psychiatrist. He was a member of several medical societies and an honorary doctor at the Medical University in Vienna. In 1938 he was sent to Buchenwald concentration camp where he died of starvation after refusing to work on the death transport to Germany
