Henry Moseley was born January 5, 1796, in London. At the age of sixteen he joined the Navy as a midshipman and served for three years on the frigate "Nile." He was promoted to lieutenant at age twenty-one and to commander at twenty-four. He retired from the Navy at the rank of captain. In 1826 he was elected a member of Parliament for Warwick, a position he held until his death
