Harry Hershfield was born in New York City on June 17, 1904. He died on October 27, 1979. Harry first published his work in the 1930s in professional journals and in a series of studies, "Mental Concepts in Art," which he wrote in collaboration with his wife, Ruth Hershfield. In addition to co-writing Mental Concepts in Art, Harry published his first book, Art and the Creative Process, in 1935
