Harishankar Kaushik is a writer, editor, publisher and he is also known as the "The Making of Indian Writer" According to his own, Harishankar Kaushik was born in Kolkata (Calcutta) on February 14, 1957. He completed his graduation in Economics from Presidency College (now Kolkata University) in 1977. Later he joined The Telegraph as an Associate Editor. Later Harishankar started his career as a journalist with The Telegraph (Kolkata)
He then moved to Mumbai where he worked with Hindustan Times for five years. His career took him to New Delhi where he became the assistant editor of The Statesman. After two years, he returned to Calcutta.
He has been publishing an English weekly magazine since 1987 called Bhartiya Nabana since he started writing his first travelogue titled "The Road To Ladakh".
