Gilderoy Lockhart (born Nicholas Gilderoy Lockhart  on July 3, 1920 in London, England) is a British wizard. He is the best friend and apprentice of Harry Potter, and the only known student to have graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was also briefly a teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1990s, having been recruited by then Headmaster Albus Dumbledore to replace Horace Slughorn.
