Geoffrey G. Parker was born in England and moved to Canada at age 12. He earned a BA from the University of Toronto and a PhD from the University of Chicago. He has been a professor at the University of British Columbia since 1985, where he also serves as Chair of Canadian Studies and a member of the Board of Governors for the University
He is a past President of the Canadian Association for the Study of Education. His books have been published in twenty-three languages, including Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Polish, French, Czech, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. In addition to his academic work he has written two best-selling novels: All The King's Men and The Last Tycoon.
