Edward Nelson Teall was an American author. He was born in 1823 in Pennsylvania, the son of a Presbyterian minister. He graduated from Princeton University in 1845, then studied law at Harvard Law School. He practiced law briefly before joining the army, eventually becoming a major of infantry
During the Civil War he served under General Grant against the Confederacy. After the war, he practiced law in Chicago before returning to writing. His most famous work is "The Story of My Life".
