He is the author of twelve novels, including the Booker Prize-winning "The Red and the Green" (1984), which was also made into a feature film, "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" (2006), which won the 2007 Man Booker Prize; "The Warrior's Gate" (2009), which won the Whitbread Book of the Year; and "The Innocents" (2011), which won Britain's prestigious WH Smith Literary Award for fiction.
