Dorothea Mackellar (1867 – 1946) was an Australian poet. She was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and died in Melbourne, Victoria. Her first book of poems, Poems (1901), won the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry and the University of Oxford's Newdigate Prize for Poetry. Her other collections include Poems (1913), The Golden Treasury of Poems (1916), and An Anthology of Australian Verse (1922)
The last two made her one of Australia's most popular poets. Around 1930 she was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of New South Wales and in 1931 to the Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Arts and Letters.
