Don McClure was born in Washington, DC in 1930. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and attended Ohio State University on a football scholarship. He spent over a quarter of a century as a newsman and investigative reporter, working for newspapers in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri and Virginia.
