His short fiction has been featured in the Pushcart Prize anthology series, Best American Short Stories, Best American Mystery Stories, The Pushcart Prize XXIII, The Pushcart Prize XXIV, The Pushcart Prize XXV, The Pushcart Prize XXVI , The Pushcart Prize XXVII , The Pushcart Prize XXVIII , The Pushcart Prize XXIX , Best Women's Mystery Stories 2013 , and The New York Times Upfront Fiction Mixture. His novel-length work includes Bliss (winner of the 2014 Bram Stoker Award for First Novel), Blackfel (winner of the 2014 Derringer Award for Best Southern Fiction), and Green Skin (winner of the 2014 SFWA Nebula Award). Blackfel was also nominated for the 2014 Shirley Jackson Award.
