Corrie ten Boom was a member of the Dutch Christian resistance during World War II. She and her family were imprisoned by the Nazis for three years, and she helped many of them to survive the concentration camps. After the war she founded the Underground Education Center in Amsterdam and was instrumental in helping thousands of Jews to flee into hiding. Her book The Hiding Place, which recounts her experiences during the war, was published posthumously.
