His career as an actor began when he was cast in the episode "The Trouble with Harry" of the television series Rawhide, moving to Hollywood six months later to pursue a career in motion pictures. He is the only actor to have received an Academy Award for playing himself in the film "Tightrope." Clint Eastwood was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame at its gala ceremony held on December 9, 2003, at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel.
