Charles Fenno Hoffman, Jr. (born 1943) is an American business executive. He was the chairman and CEO of Aetna from 2007 to 2018. Hoffman joined the company as a vice president in 1976 and was named CEO in 2006; he retired on January 1, 2018
From 2006 to 2007 he was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Aetna's parent company, the UnitedHealth Group (UHG). Hoffman was born and raised in Chicago and attended Brown University on a scholarship; he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
