Born in 1894, Cecil Pratt was a prolific writer who also worked as a newspaper editor, a painter and a school teacher. He began his career working for his father, who owned The Flint Journal newspaper in Flint, Michigan. Later he became the editor of the Southern Baptist Convention magazine, The Christian Advocate. His articles were often published in several other magazines and newspapers, including The New York Sun, The Chicago Daily Journal and The American Magazine
This variety of work gave Pratt experience in writing about different subjects. He died in 1971 after nearly forty years of writing.
