Canelo Alvarez, also known as Canelo Álvarez Jnr. (born 27 February 1992) is a Mexican professional boxer. He is the current WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine champion and the lineal champion in the Middleweight division. He is a two-division world champion in three weight classes and has become one of the most prominent figures in boxing today.

He won his first twenty-nine fights by knockout and was tied with Victor Ortiz for the youngest fighter to wear the WBO Light Middleweight title when he was 20 years old. On November 3, 2012 Álvarez defeated Austin Trout to win the WBC and Ring middleweight titles and become lineal champion at 154 lbs. On December 2, 2013 Alvarez defended his light middleweight championship against Erislandy Lara by unanimous decision and won his third title in four weight divisions.
He then fought Gennady Golovkin for the unified middleweight championship on September 16, 2017 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada losing via knockout in round 5 after sustaining an injury to his right hand.
