2 Quotes & Sayings By Bulfinch

The author of a number of well-known fictional works, Bulfinch's most important contribution to literary history was as a translator of Greek and Latin texts. The Fables of Aesop, the most popular collection of which was published in 1781, was a direct translation from the original Greek. In addition to these translations, he also made a translation from the Latin of the Historia Animalium by the Roman Pliny the Elder. These four volumes, which have been called "the best thing that was ever done for the study of animal life," were published by Cadell and Davies in 1791.
