Boris Gorbachev was born in 1936 in Moscow, Russia. He is a Russian journalist and writer of contemporary literature. Gorbachevsky holds a PhD in Philology from the faculty of the Russian State University for the Humanities. He worked for over five years as an editor at Literaturnaya Gazeta, one of Russia's leading magazines, and did the same work for two other Russian periodicals: Novy Mir and Nezavisimaya Gazeta (weekly)
He has also been a columnist for several publications both in Russia and abroad, including The Daily Telegraph (London), Washington Times (USA), Paris Match (France), and other newspapers and magazines. Gorbachevsky is the winner of the Abram Tertz Award (1985), three times (1987, 1988, 1990) recipient of the Press Prize of Russia, twice winner of the Russian Publicists' Award (1987, 1989). He has been a member of International PEN organization since 1986.
