Ben Johnson was one of the most prolific and versatile American screenwriters of the 20th century. He is best remembered for writing the Academy Award-winning film Bullitt, and for his collaborations with director William Friedkin on The Exorcist and Sorcerer and for his work on such box-office hits as The French Connection, The Last Detail, and All the President's Men. Johnson received four Academy Awards nominations during his career. He died in 2000 at age 84.
