Jean Baudrillard was born in Reims, France, on July 8, 1929. He was educated at the Sorbonne, where he studied philosophy. In 1952 he moved to Paris and became a television producer. In the early 1960s he began to publish his essays in anthologies of French intellectuals and in several French literary magazines
In 1968 he won the prestigious Prix Formentor for his book Simulations. In 1972 his first novel, The Perfect Crime, appeared. His most famous works are Fatal Strategies (1975), Simulations (1981), and The Ecstasy of Communication (1988).
