Bakhtyar Ali is an Iranian-American author, public speaker, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Institute for Strategic Dialogue in the United States, which was created in 2006 to promote peace, tolerance, security, freedom of expression, human rights and religious freedom. Bakhtyar has served as the director of The Institute for Strategic Dialogue since its inception in 2006 until May 2013 when he was appointed as the Director-General. He is the author of several books including The Roadmap to Freedom: A New Paradigm in U.S.–Iran Relations that has been translated into several languages worldwide. He has also published numerous articles in leading international journals including Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs Middle East Quarterly and Middle East Policy Journal
He is a frequent guest speaker at various academic conferences including Columbia University, Michigan State University, University of Florida, University of Massachusetts Amherst, George Washington University and many others.
