Arap yegon chitabkoret (Arap Chitabkoret) was born in the village of Gansaleh, north of Bursa, Turkey in 1835. He attained the title "Ali" (elder), and he was known as the "Prince of poets". Arap was considered a genius by many people, including his contemporaries Zia Günes and Nazim Hikmet, who called him "the poet-priest". At the age of 9, he began his literary career with an epic poem titled "Gök'te Çarşı" (The Court of the Gods)
Among the poems he wrote are: Following Sultan Abdülaziz's death in 1861, he resigned from his post to devote his time to poetry. His poetry is highly regarded among Turkey's citizens.
