Anne Stirling Hastings (1917 – 1987) was a Scottish author and psychotherapist. She was born in Edinburgh and studied English at Oxford University, gaining her MA in 1939. After World War II, she was a freelance journalist for London's "The Listener", and later worked as a private secretary to the novelist Conrad Lytton Strachey. In 1948, with her husband, the publisher Rupert Hart-Davis, she founded the publishing house Hamish Hamilton
She wrote several novels, most notably A Change of Mind (1973), which won her the Booker Prize; she also wrote pamphlets on psychiatry and psychotherapy and numerous studies and papers on literature and the uses of psychotherapy in education. Her second husband, the biochemist Alexander R. Todd, died in 1976.
