Amos Lee was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983. He picked up the guitar at the age of five, learning quickly how to play all of his favorite songs with his father. After graduating from high school, he attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he met his writing partner, Nils Lindstrom. Together they formed The Two Friends with Amos on lead vocals and guitar, and Nils on drums
They spent two years touring the US before returning to their home state of Georgia to form The Low Anthem in 2006. They released their debut album Songs for the Deaf in 2008 followed by a 10 year anniversary reissue of that album in 2013.
