Alistair Urquhart is an internationally recognised expert on the history of the British Empire. He is a historian, writer and broadcaster. He was educated at the London School of Economics and Cambridge University. His first book, The Seafarers (1961), examined the lives of sailors in the Age of Sail, and his books on the British Empire have seen him travel all over the world
Alistair has written four more books on the subject including The Last Great Cause (first published in 2004) which explores whether India's quest for independence was justified by its past suffering under both British and Indian rule.
