Ali Asad was born in Syria. He worked as a journalist for many years before he moved to the United States in 1988. Having received his B.A. in Broadcast Journalism, he began his career as a reporter at WQXR Radio covering the Middle East, the Balkans, and the former Soviet Union
He has also worked at NTRS Radio Network in Washington, D.C., where he was the Middle East correspondent. Ali is currently a contributing editor for UPI News Service and has written extensively on Islamic affairs for National Public Radio and other publications.
