Montapert became known nationally for his expertise in education policy and politics, social reform, education leadership and research methods. He was also the founder of the American Council of Education, the first organization dedicated to fighting racial discrimination in higher education. Dr.
Montapert lectured widely on race relations issues throughout the United States as well as internationally.
