Alexandra Chauran is a French writer, born in Paris. She works in the fields of psychology and sociology, and has specialised in the study of sexuality since the 1990s. Her first book, Sexe : Pourquoi le sexe est-il si compliqué ? (Sex: Why is sex so complicated?) was published in France in 2004. It has been translated into English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish and Russian
Her second book, La Sexualité des enfants : Mythes et réalité (Children’s Sexuality: Myths and reality) was published in France in 2008. She also participated in the creation of two magazines on children's sexuality: "Le Journal de l'enfant" (Children’s magazine) and "L'enfant et le sexe" (Sex education for children). Alexandra Chauran was a guest speaker at the Second World Congress of Sexology in Lisbon in July 2011 and is currently a member of the Sexology Association of France.
