In 1936 Savinio published his second novel, The Rosary of Carniola. In 1943 he won the Enrico Morena prize for his novel The Blood-Red Flower. His third novel, The Door to the Wind, was published in 1946.

In 1953 he won the Sechi Prize for his play Vittoria, which was based on a poem by Savina Giuriati. During the last fifteen years of his life Savinio suffered from a heart ailment and was unable to work as a writer. He died on July 26th, 1968 at the age of sixty-six.
