Ai Yazawa is a Japanese manga artist and writer. She was born in Tokyo on September 11, 1980. In 2005, her work “Shugo Chara!” ("Star Chara!") was published in the February issue of Coro Coro Comic magazine. In 2006, she worked on her work “Kawaii-chan ni Iku yo!” ("It's cute! My new life!"), which was published in the October issue of Magazine Z. Later that year, she worked on her work “Houkago no Yukue” ("The Interpreter's Diary"), and it was published in the November issue of Hakusensha’s Bessatsu Hana to Yume magazine. In 2007, she started working on her work “K-On!” ("Sound! Euphonium"), which was published in the March issue of Coro Coro Comic magazine.

Later that year, she launched her work “Candy Candy” which was serialized in the May 2008 issue of Nakayoshi magazine. That same month, she started "Shugo Chara! Comic", a spin-off manga series to "Shugo Chara!" and it debuted in the December 2008 issue of CoroCoro Comic. She ended her work "Candy Candy" and launched "Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai", a light novel series about high school boys living together that appeared in the May 2009 issue of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki hp magazine. In 2010, she launched "Angelic Layer" which was serialized in Nakayoshi magazine from April 2010 to December 2010.
